Fursona Process

20240910 - Initial Fursona

The initial rabbit fursona I made, that felt rather uninspired.

The thing that kicked off this whole fursona is the streaming layout behind the character. At the time I was inspired by both community supported radio WPRB and the streaming group Cable Two.

In the end I deemed the success of this streaming concept impossible due to the inevitable copyright issues. But I still wanted to keep working on the fursona or PNG tuber behind the stream.

Second pass at making a dogsona in Illustrator. Pretty bad but I started to identify the overall silouhette I wanted.

Third pass. Bolder and more graphic color palette. Started to define mouth and facial features better.

20241105 - Full Reference Work

In November I started the full body ref and clothes. I never intended for the fursona to be 'naked' but I felt it was important to define all aspects of the character.

I chose clothes that somewhat resemble my style IRL, but my fursona still dresses better than I normally do XD.

Looking back, I think I spent most of my time working out the body and face. I wanted to make sure the expression was perfect, since it started out so bad.

In the end, I landed on a much calmer expresion, and more toned body shading.

20241226 - Final Reference

The final reference! Certainly more tweaks could be made, but jumping back into Illustrator at this point would be terrifying (so many layers).

If I have one critique its that I should have stopped Illustrator and started sketching before creating any vectors. I would have saved some time on all the different iterations.
